which tires
Thinking of new tires but cant seem to find any in 315 35 17 only drag radials any ideas, and no matching fronts

Nitto motivo was the only thing that I could find with matching treads available in the stagger my BDR came with (245/40 and 315/35R17). The 17" sizes are becoming harder to find, but the 18" sizes aren't much better! It's eventually going to be a stagger fitment where one or two manufacturers are going to corner that market with the demand decreasing. The new Mickey Thompson tread and I believe Sumitomo made the rear, but it depends on what your front is as to whether they have a match.

I installed Mickey Thompson Street Comp a couple months ago. Ride mucho better than the hockey puck 12 year old Goodyear F1s.
245/45-17 and 315/35-17

I really like the Nitto NT05s (NOT the NT05Rs; they are track tires) for the street. They have a wear rating of 200, the lowest the SCCA etc accept for street tires. I use them on my cars for the street and have used them at track days just fine.
They're very good in the dry and OK in the wet and are available in the 315 rears. If you use these you may need to compromise slightly on the front at 235 or 255. I didn't see a 245 here: Nitto NT05 tires listed by size
Maybe some other outlet has the 245s, maybe not.

Running Nitto 555 Extreme 245/45/17 and 315/35/17 setup and they are a great tire. The diameter of these sizes are nearly identical so they worked out perfectly. Replaced Michelin Pilots with the Nitto and could not be more pleased. The Nitto tire is also available in a drag radial version.

Nitto motivo was the main thing that I could find with coordinating tracks accessible in the stun my BDR accompanied (245/40 and 315/35R17).
The 17" sizes are becoming more enthusiastically to find, yet at the same the 18" sizes aren't greatly improved! It's, in the long run, going to be a stunning fitment where a couple of makers will corner that market with the interest diminishing.

Ditto on the NT05. Just installed them on my BDR and with the same sizes that you quoted. Great tire - love them....and the tread pattern on them looks really cool with those two large groves!
And to repeat, not the NT05R - those are drag radials

Nahhh I don’t think so….I’m getting up to speed looking lots of posts & topics. I’ve enjoyed looking at quite a few of yours although it will take me a while to see all 21,000. Posts by Meat are an entirely a different story. He looks to have been banished on multiple occasions. |

Had TOYO PROXES R888R mounted yesterday, not on the car yet. Should be a lot better than the compound that BDR provided

My car came with Nitto NT05, 295/40-18. Good tire, relatively quiet, good traction. But, they are soft and don't last long. Not great in the rain, either.
When they sat in the garage for a week or two, they would develop flat spots. When it was cold, it would take a few miles for them to get round again. Not a big deal, just an observation. I suppose if you were not going to drive the car for a few months, then get them up off the ground.
I installed NT555II, 295/45-18. A slightly taller tire. Good tire, a little more noise. About the same amount of traction. Should be better in the wet, and might last a smidgen longer. The bigger tire looks a lot better, too.

I love the "Which Tires?" threads. I always read them looking for magical information as to what I should replace my Azenis with when the time comes down the road. I always walk away with the same conclusion.....undecided.

I'm currently having my rear wheels widened to 12" and mounting Toyo R888r's all around when the wheels get back from the shop... 335/30/18 out back and 245's in front.
The Toyo R888R's have been awesome on my other vehicles and I'm hoping they will be just as good on my cobra.
