Default Mystery Oil Leak (Back of Cobra)

Maybe somebody has seen this before, but it is sure baffling to me.

I saw a small line of oil running on the ground out of the middle under the back of my car. I crawled under and looked at the rear end and it seems dry. I then looked up further (my head was basically wedged at this point) and it seems to be coming from near the top side of the front end of the gas tank, and dripping down the front of the tank. As far as I know there is no oil source in that part of the car. I could see the fuel line and filter and they all seemed dry too (I was thinking maybe gas ran into some greasy under-area and appeared like oil on the ground).

Possibly I will wake up tomorrow and it will all be a dream, but just in case, does anyone have any thoughts?

Mine had a leak just like yours. The gasket that seals the spedo line into the rearend, its at the top, was leaking. Bad gasket, I replaced the gasket and the leak stopped.

Bill, I don't know the part#. My mechanic had one laying around and it fit perfect. I would call Reg, they might send you one for free since it should not be leaking.

Luckily my head is mushy and I was able to temporarily shape it like an anvil when under the car
