Brakes
How good are the standard power brakes for street use? I love really good brakes, like huge Wilwoods. But I have been told that big Wilwoods + power booster makes them difficult to modulate well.

It seems to me that the purpose of power brakes is to allow the driver to apply light pressure on the brake pedal to get a strong reaction from the brakes. So it makes sense that power brakes will be more sensitive to brake pedal pressure than manual brakes. Like any other skill, I suspect one could learn to modulate power brakes as well as manual brakes with some practice. ... Both my Cobra replica and my 1963 Corvette have manual brakes and I don't find the brake pedal pressure on either to be uncomfortably heavy.

My current Cobra ha manual brakes and huge Wilwoods. They work extremely well and are very easy to modulate. I could out brake almost anything on the track. But I was told by Gordon Levy that adding a brake booster doesn't work well.
Is that true with the Backdraft brakes?

For 2016 going into 2017 there's actually a new larger brake setup on the cars. I've driven 2 cars but have not had enough miles to say for certain in all cases but they seem improved and the power assist is not overdone like some vehicles.
I believe the current stock brakes with a pad change could perform very close to the Wilwoods.
That said the 14" Wilwoods with 6 pistons are pretty aggressive on the cars.

I would agree that adding booster assistance to already fantastic brakes could be difficult to drive at times.

My engineer explained to me that without a brake booster you might have to apply 40 pounds of pressure and it's easier to detect between 30 to 50 pounds to apply the brakes then putting in a brake booster and trying to regulate foot pressure of between 5 to 15 pounds. And also in a panic it'l be to easy to lock them up.

I think what I'll do is stick with the stock brakes, and see how it goes. I can always switch to Wilwoods later if I want to.

Exocet already has big Wilwoods. I'm considering a new Backdraft.
