Default TKO-600 Upgrades

Has anyone sent their TKO 600 off to have brass forks or anything done to them? I get the occasional lockout shifting around 7k RPM between 2-3 and 3-4.

Also debating an auto swap. Anyone done this with success? The car is putting down around 650 rwhp.

Thanks!

I did and it solved the 2-3 shift.

I did and don't think it's significantly better.

Tremecs are not my favorite manual transmission, probably my least favorite. I might be biased.

What did it cost you overall?

Default Tko600

I run my Cobra with a FE shifting 6200 rpm on the 1/4 mile snd have never missed a shift after the mods. Mr Mustang steered me to Bob Hanlon but there are other shops who can do the mod... well worth the money !

Liberty Gears
$400 parts and $200 for a local Ford mechanic to swap parts. I pulled and installed the TKO 600 myself.

I think
if you buy a TKO 500 or 600 you should do a street upgrade before you install it into a car.

I talked to Bob Hanlon at the London Cobra show last year or the year before. I was very impressed with him and the cutaway displays. He could explain everything and demonstrate it. If I get some time before I retire, I'll send it to him. If not, after I retire.

Brent does work on them and is a dealer, as well. I trust Brent, but Hanlon offered me a sweet deal to swap out my 5th gear ratio that I cannot pass up. I never heard of a complaint about either.

There are various things that can be done. Some are strongly discouraged for street use. They can make a TKO act like a rock crusher and nearly impossible to miss a shift, but it would be an annoying beast on the road.

I had all my upgrades to my TKO 600 done by RPM Transmission in Anderson, Indiana, they are one of the best, they do transmissions from all over the world. When I got mine back, I was very happy, it shifted like butter (and I am an old Top loader guy). I have also had them work on my Richmond 6 Speed, they do excellent work, I personally wouldn't use anyone else, they are the best. Look them up, if you do decide to use them, talk to Jeremy. Good luck.

Bob Hanlon re-worked mine too. Luckily he only lives about 20 minutes away.
He put carbon syncros in too
Great guy
