One of the side emblems on my BD is broken. My question is, are they applied with adhesive strips or is there a hole hidden behind the badge?:

I had a similar issue where the badges needed to be replaced. No broken pins... just badges delaminating over time.

I think older models (like mine, #509) had pins that were also used to hold the upper edge of the fender vents. I think the newer ones have countersunk screws that hold the upper edge of the fender vents and then the emblem is a stick on... and placed over the heads of the countersunk screws. I THINK.

I know the pins BDR used were longer than normal pins. If you buy a new badge with pins... you'll find that the pins aren't even long enough to get through the thickness of the fiberglass body.

Mine were like BDR Boys. #6 threaded welded on studs with nuts on the back. I ground the studs off the new (aftermarket) emblems before installing with 3M molding tape.

Purchase the less expensive badges with tape as they are very thin with no pins. Then you just put the new inexpensive badges over the factory ones. No brainer on this one. Think I paid $15.
Now I can't say how long they will last without fade but since the car is mostly in the garage, a long time.
