Default Oil Change

Hey guys, I just bought a used BDR and it hasn't been delivered yet. There wasn't much info on the car other than it's a 2014 with an Iconic 427. I'd like to do an oil change on it as soon as it gets here, but order everything now so it's ready to go. I've read thru the forums that the filter is tricky to get off. Has anyone used that 90 degree elbow from Summit Racing? Also what filter is everyone running on them? Oil? And how many quarts do they take? Thanks for any help and or opinions you can provide.

Oh no! Not another oil thread! We're doomed! Doomed, I tell ya!

You'll get a lot of opinions on this, of course. Keep in mind that it's a Windsor engine. There are millions of them around with millions of miles of whatever oil is on sale at the moment.

Unless you're racing, use your favorite 5W-30 dino oil and change it on schedule.

Pretty much any small block ford filter will work. Look for a short one, not the FL 1-A. IIRC, the small block Chrysler used the same filter. Check the cross reference book on that.

I like the Purolator Pro-1, but there are other good ones on the market. Avoid Fram.

A lot of people have installed remote filter mounts. And that may require a different filter altogether. I would guess that you have pictures of the engine bay. Look and see what filter is in place now.

I know I know, I hesitated even posting this on here and being "that guy". I really appreciate the advice though.

I used the 90 adapter and works pretty good. I wish it was about a 70 deg because you can't point it straight down because the filter (if long) will be against the pan lip. I pointed mine forward. Pointing it back or up hits the headers.
