VMS Motors
Does anyone know if VMS builds their own motors or do they have a supplier? I live in Northern CA and am trying to decide to build/buy closer to my home in CA or go with VMS from acorss the country....
Thanks,

it's not the motor
it's the sum of the installation, and after sale support
VMS helps even if you don't buy there
Imagine if you did...

You want your resellers to be local whenever possible. Their proximity makes service possible where remote resellers across the country make service very difficult if possible at all. In the worst case scenario where things go bump in the dark big time for you and you and your remote reseller find yourselves solidly on opposing sides of the whoose responsible argument, the worst possible situation is to have a remote reseller. If you end up having to go to small claims court and your reseller is remote from you you need to fly out to his location (multiple times) because it will be his small claims court you will be forced to use.
There are always good resources that are not remote from you — find them, learn about them, use them. It is to your advantage!

Long time. no hear
I did the long distance method from back east with a well known builder, but I would deal local with Tom at FE Specialties for another build.
Close to the Sac region, stands behind his work.

Hey Maurice ,
Yes still on the quest, LOL. I have talked with Tom Lucas and he is close. Right now I'm leaning towards getting the roller from Millerspeed (So Cal) and then to Tom for the motor and install.
I still have hopes of stepping up into a Kirkham, most likely in retirement, 7 short years to go. Years ago, when you graciously took me for a ride in your beast (as I refer to it now) Kirkham, just reaffirmed to me an aluminum body cobra is the ultimate!

It's the same argument of sending your car to Olthoff Racing. The chances of being disappointed are low.

You may want to look up Alister Miller with Miller Motorsports I believe he is in Hermosa Beach California. He has helped me a few times and I live in Florida.

what IMLost said. Alistair is high quality and a perfectionist. He's not lightning fast, but you will be very happy with the result. He's done a lot of work on my old BDR.
