Default Heat Shield for Brake Master Cylinder

Hey Everyone.

My Backdraft is car #1209 and it was built in 2014. I teach HS Engineering specifically Engineering Graphics and Electronics. I am in the process of creating a heat shield for my brake master cylinder and vacuum booster to protect them from the header heat. There is a commercial one available but it is made of aluminum and costs $100 plus shipping. Ridiculous. I have finished the first part and it is made of polished 24 gauge sheet stainless. When I am done with the second piece I will post a picture of the finished product along with a dimensioned CAD drawing for anyone who wants to make their own. Not that difficult with a few simple tools.

Fred

Also make sure that you are using high temp fluid.

I did something very similiar, but I made two pieces and sandwiched some Thermo-Tec heat shield between the two.
