Default instrument grounds

I have intermittent problems with the gauges changing when the headlights are turned on. A new ground from the battery to the frame helped a lot.

I'd like to add one more ground to the instruments.

I plan to add a wire from the voltmeter to ground in order to have two ground paths for the instruments circuit.
Rewiring all of the instruments to individual ground circuits might be optimal, but that's too big of scale for me on my back.

Question: The volt meter has one green wire (power) and two black wires on the other side. Are these two wires the ground ?? Does what I'm describing make sense to alleviate problems related to the daisy chain for instrument ground??

Thanks

The black wires are usually daisy chained grounds for lighting.

Voltmeter Gauge wiring here.

You can add a ground to the cowl square bar behind the dash with a #21 x 12" bit. https://www.homedepot.com/p/Drill-Am...1221/305287325
Tap to a 10-32NF Or use self-tapping screws (not a good idea).
If going to 10-24NC use a #25 x 12" bit https://www.homedepot.com/p/Drill-Am...1225/305287319

I like to use tap sockets https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Glad to help. It's what I do for my day/night/weekend job (always on call).
I'm a Tech Rep on Biz Jets.

I think part of why I love Cobras so much is the simplicity.

No real hellhole to work in.

Hellhole...

That pic is from our website, lol

Yea some models are worse than others. It's the temperatures, no moving air, hands pruned out from sweat, dropped tools, co-workers zip-tying your legs to structures is great too.
