Default New member BDR # check

Hi all, I have recently purchased a RT3
through a friend in West Australia. I'm trying to determine its build #.l see a vin#? on a crossmember below the radiator remote tank which has the last three digits 168. Also on the right side chassis rail in the wheel arch is the same # in large white numbers.so I presume it's # 168, can anyone confirm that for me?

It possible that it is the same as the VIN ending but unlikely as builds get pushed out the door on different dates thus usually have diff Build#.

I'd contact Backdraft in South Africa (Factory)

Thanks SPDBRAKE, the car was first brought to Australia new about 10 yrs ago and not registered or usd as of yet.Looking on here at the similar eras the 168# doesn't really sound right. I will contact SA and get the correct # .Thanks for your quick response, I'm currently working on recommissioning and thoroughly enjoying the experience.

Tell me more about your car and I should be able to help? Its not 168 though. RT3's are a more recent model than that number suggests.

Thanks Spookypt, I have emailed the vin# to backdraft Durban and confident they will clear it up. My car is about 10 yrs old I think, imported to Oz around 2012 or so although never registered or driven / completed as yet. Doing finishing touches now and recommissioning .It has a Ford Racing hotrod crate engine 3v with variable cam timing and a Tremec T5 gearbox, 2 of my mates have the same set-up and are extremely happy, thanks for your interest and offers of help.

Just to clarify that's a 4.6 litre and it seriously takes some fitting in the engine bay, physically much bigger than the old 289's of the day.

I have received some emails from Backdraft and understand that only cars imported from SA to USA have the individual build #'s. John Scott recommends the last for digits of the vin would relate to my build # meaning I168. He also states my car if sent to USA would be between 1350 and 1354.A little disappointed as all the threads I have read it seems that everyone is quite proud of their individual build #'s. Thanks for your support, I will be looking to contribute where I can.
