Dennis,
It should be 19 gallons. I have been filling mine up 5 gallons at a time with a gas can. The car has not been driven yet, only started up for the first time and timed. I have been marking down the fuel gauge readings as I fill it. The results, starting with a brand new empty tank are:

Fuel Needle readings:

5 gallons = E
10 gallons = 1/4
15 gallons = 5/8
20 gallons = F

It took 20 gallons without overflowing. Next time should be at the gas pumps!

Good thread.
Mine is like

Empty about 1/4 tank
5 gallons. 1/2 tank
10 gallons. Full

10-19 gallons, bounces between full and beyond.

My solution. Gas station at 150 miles is sound practice, unless it’s been an exceedingly good time, then 100 miles between top off. Good time to stretch and look for things falling off. It’s all about the foot.
