Central Coast Cobras Now on Facebook, & Annual Lake San Antonio Cruise
Mark your calendars! The annual Lake San Antonio Cruise will be held on Saturday, April 5th. We will meet at the usual place and time. Salinas Airport between 9:00 am and 9:30 am, and We leave between 9:30 and 10:00 am, so we get to the Lake for lunch on time. Lunch is served at Noon.
Lunch will be Tri Tip and all the fixins. Lunch is $8.00 per person or $15 for two. Also, you are not obligated to have lunch if you just want to join the cruise and socializing at the lake; but it is imperative that you let us know as soon as possible if you are attending, and if you want lunch, and for how many. This is to make sure we buy enough food and don't run short as we did a few times when unexpected people showed up.
As always, there is a Park entry fee, which is discounted for us, and is $8.00 per car.
Any questions or to confirm attendance, email centralcoastcobras@yahoo.com

Just a reminder. Please let us know if you are going to join us, so we know how much food to buy. Hope to see some of you there. We actually are getting a new spot this year because the lake is so low. It will actually have a water view.

Greetings Central Coast Cobras. Dave from Chandler AZ. here. Not to change your thread, but I am coming to Santa Barbara this week. Can anyone recommend a fun road or two? Even better, can anyone recommend where to do some good wine tasting?
Thanks for your time.
Dave

It is a really nice drive South on Hwy 1, but that is heading into L.A. and tends to get trafficky. Going North, it goes inland and turns into Hwy 101 about 15 to 20 miles from Santa Barbara until you reach Pismo Beach. The best road is Hwy 1 between Morro Bay and Monterey, but that is a somewhere around an hour away from you and then a 3 hour drive to Monterey and then even if you went back 101, it is still a 3 hour drive back. So I doubt you want to take that long of a drive. Being from L.A. and living in the Monterey area for over 40 years, I am not real familiar with what is around Santa Barbara as far as good driving roads go. I know some great ones both in L.A. and here in the Monterey area though. I know there is a lake near S.B., I think it is Castaic Lake, and I am guessing there are some good windy roads to get there. You might ask someone when you get to S.B. or perhaps email Howard at centralcoastcobras@yahoo.com. He lives in Morro Bay, which is much closer than I am, but still quite a ways south of him. S.B. is really in SoCal; so us Central Coast guys don't know much about the area.
There are a lot of good Wineries both in the Salinas Valley and Carmel Valley, but again, that is pretty far from you. I believe there are some near lake Castaic, but I have not spent any time in the S.B. area since I was a teenager, and that was a looong time ago.
Have a great time.

Dave,
Wine tasting is just 20-30 mins over the hill from Santa Barbara. take 152 "San Marcos Pass" nice scenic drive OBEY THE SPEED LIMIT heavy CHP area.
Once you are on the "other side" of the pass you will be in Santa Ynez area lots of wineries along the way, Los Olivos has tasting rooms and then you can also go on Foxen Canyon Rd. The whole area has wineries featured in the movie Sideways. Suggest picking up a winery map from a hotel or just go online and search "Santa Barbara Wineries".
have fun,
Mike "monster"

Thanks.
We did the ride over the mountain yesterday and stopped at a couple wineries. I like the grounds at Gainey, we shared a bottle and took the scenery in. We are having dinner at Hitching Post II tomorrow evening. I am sure we will hit a couple more places before dinner.
Santa Barbara is an excellent place to visit, however, Joe Biden is visiting today, so it's a bit strained on the roads.
Lots of eye candy to go with the wine!
Cheers
Dave

Hi Mike. Please PM me when you have a moment.
I'd like to learn how to post to the Central Coast Cobra club an invitation to the San Luis Obispo Concours, Sunday June 8th.
