transmission hump, make it smaller
Has anyone ever made their transmission hump smaller?
The floors are so cramped, and the T5 isn't an enormous trans.
Can anyone foresee any issues with doing this?

Sidebar joke............
Doctor reviews optimum weight/height chart with patient:
"According to this chart, for your weight you should be 11'-7" tall."

I suppose you could. But wouldn't this fall into the same kind of thing as doing a $500K remodel on a $200K house?
Maybe you could spec it for a new build, but you'll spend a lot of money tearing apart an existing one, all for what?
To begin with, your foot pedals will all be in the wrong place. Start remodeling kitchens and baths after that...

You can do a lot with pedal manipulation. In my Formula Ford autocross car the footwell is so tight that I have trimmed off a one quarter by 1" side on the clutch pedal so I can shift without hitting two pedals at a time. I wear only size nine shoes. I have an old set of leather sneakers which I ground off at lease 1/4" on each side of the ball of my foot area which added to the pedal trim achieves the same thing.
I also bent and added to the foot pedals on my VSE Cobra so I could reach them one at a time.
Modifying shoes and pedals is a lot simpler and safer than moving body panels around.
It might not be enough for you but it is worth a good hard look.

I'm 6' and I have a size 12 shoe and wear my Merrell boots when I drive. No issues. I can extend my left leg under the clutch pedal when cruising. My son 6'2'' with a 14 shoe has trouble with his knees and the dash/steering wheel. But width of the tunnel wouldn't change any of that. I don't see the benefit.

Lots of people make changes to the trans tunnel and foot box for more foot room. Not uncommon at all.
But I've never heard of anyone shrinking the entire trans tunnel. If you're handy with a welder and sheet metal brake, I don't see why you couldn't do it. That would be a pretty interesting mod. If you decide to do it, please post specs and pics; I'd appreciate that.

I made modifications the the trans tunnel in my CR Cobra. It's just fiberglass so it can be cut and a new shape formed in with more fiberglass. The area I changed was by the shifter as I used a Richmond Gear trans that has external shifter.
I also made mods to the CR dash to raise the air vents on the drivers side. The air vent hung down too far and hit my shin when pressing the clutch. Not too complicated to do if you're handy with fiberglass.
