Default which tail lights

I need a set of tail lights, and front marker lights. Not sure what set to go with, double red in the rear, red/amber in the rear. I want to go rounds, but looking for suggestions on where to get a good quality, reasonably priced set If I go amber/red in the rear, I need to wire them so the amber isn't on. Is the front signal/marker the same light as the rear, just different color lens? I've seen some different sizes too. What have you gone with? pics or links are helpful

There are some really nice LED rear light assemblies that look just like the standard Cobra offering. Front marker lights will be dependent if they are running and turn signal or just turn signal. Then clear or yellow.

The original style round were Lucas. Finish Line has them for about $49ea. Or, you can save some money thru FFR @ $29ea., but they are not Lucas. The red from FFR look very close in style to the Lucas. The FFR amber are a different style on the bezel and lenses. The FFR are DOT approved, if that makes a difference for your State registration. Plus, the amber can be wired as "on" parking lights as well as turn signals.

I had to replace my lights after the car sitting where the bezels started to rust & pit before I purchased the car. I went with the FFR because of the DOT approval.

Amber in front, set of amber and set of red in rear. Normally, the amber light is on top in the rear and the red below. However, I reversed mine to get the brake light up higher for visibility to those cars following me! The only accidents I have been in for the last 30 years entailed me stopped and someone not seeing me.

Most of the builds I have seen that have rounds in the rear use all red lights.

Thom, are the DOT approved lights from FFR reflective? I did not pass inspection once because of no reflectors in the rear. I just said “Really, that’s why you won’t pass it”.
Went home and cut out a dog bone shaped piece of aluminum with reflectors at both ends that I could mount on the license plat screws. Just for inspection. I’ve since found a more hot rod friendly inspection station.

As Blas mentioned, I highly recommend the LED lights. Mine are the rectangular and the difference between led and non-led is amazing and I'm sure it's the same with the round lights. My 2¢

Turn signals on the bottom, brake lights on top, for me, just a personal preference . I Like the Cobra & Miata same paint scheme, Sycraft, too cool. On the Alfa Race car, I had the Amber lights come on for the brake lights (Not legal for the street), the racers behind me, said, I REALLY notice the amber's coming on, rather than red brake lights, your expecting red, and you get BRIGHT amber, I was never hit in the rear Cheers Tom.

Brightest most vibrant output is achieved when LED color is
matched with lens color. So, red LED for brake and amber
LED for turn/position lights.

Using white LEDs in a colored lens will result in some loss of
illumination potential. The lens lets through that part of the
light spectrum representative of its color and reflects or
absorbs the rest.

The test I ran had showed a significant difference.

I do not believe they have reflectors. A little surprised the inspector wanted them. But, most inspectors were not alive back when such safety features were not around.

That goes back to my view that we have continued to design safer cars to compensate for stupid drivers. I watched a young lady today in a 5000lb + car tailgating about 15 ft from a small car at 80mph because, I am sure, she felt that if she needed to stop, all she had to do was hit the brakes and it would stop in time.
