ERA 427 S/C order placed
ERA 427 S/C ordered on 3/31. This will be my third ERA, so the options are much easier to decide on.
The main options are;
1. 6 pin
2. Big front brakes and ERA rear (I will rebuild the 3rd member and assemble the complete rear)
3. Bond body
4. Leather interior
5. Raydot LH mirror
6. Top, and tonneau
7. Smiths gauges
8. Rear battery
9. Remote filter and oil cooler (I will plumb oil T stat)
10. Chrome roll bar and quick jacks
11. S/C dash with glove box
12. Heater and seat heaters
Engine will be 496 side oiler. Brent Lykins will build a very streetable engine that is tame enough to cruise in town and to pull down to 2000 rpm for using OD on the interstate. I asked for a 482 but he strongly advised using a BBM block that can be bored to 4.375" and taking advantage of the free cubic inches.
He estimates around 600 HP and still be tame. Streetable was my top criteria.
The car will get driven - a lot. Three Hot Rod Power Tours in 755 with my wife taking plenty of turns at the wheel.
I already went thru my Jaguar 3rd member. Rebuilt with new bearings and seals. When Peter sends the balance of the rear suspension parts I will build it up.
The transmission will most likely be a Richmond Gear Super Street OD 5 speed wtih .77 OD. A TKO 600 is the other option, but I didn't have a good experience with two of them.
It will be painted Rangoon or Poppy red with Wimbledon white stripes and a yellow rookie stripe on the left fender.
More to come.

Well that is excellent. And with the tough economic times you'll get that car sooner rather than later.

awesome, I hope to take mine on the power tour some day.
Question about the ERA rearend, I wanted to do the same as far as building it myself. Will they ship the rearend kit before the car is ready?

I asked Peter to send the rearend kit, FE alternator brackets and remote oil filter/cooler parts about the time the frame is completed.
The engine builder needs the brackets and remote filter parts.
Peter is pretty flexible.

DanEC,
I think you used Pemserts in your build. They are on my list for the trans tunnel and master cylinder cover.
Thanks.

I knew I had seen you on CC! Thanks for the order, John.
BTW, it's actually just a 4.310" bore. Lots of meat left in the block.

I think about those who are suffering in this mess. I sure hope we can all get back to work soon.
My family and I are lucky in that both of our jobs are secure.
Peter was very uncertain how this would impact his order book. Several have already pulled out.

Uhhhhh, well, if you were so inclined... you could ask Peter to put you in touch with whoever has been on the list the longest, and who is now getting ready to cancel, and offer that person a small fee to assign his right to receive the build over to you. That's just the way my mind works....
