Default "Originalized" my Rear View Mirror

One of my "to-do" items I finally got around to this weekend--painting the frame, back, and clips of my dash-mount rear-view mirror with black crinkle to look more original.

I just followed the instructions--green ScotchBrite followed by lacquer thinner to degrease. Three coats going in opposite directions with 5 min in between. I hit the parts with a heat gun to make sure they'd crinkle, then let them cure for 48 hours followed by an hour in a 200F oven (just to be sure). I cut cardboard to put inside the frame and keep paint out of the groove.

I'm pretty happy with the results.

Nice work

Just a standard crinkle finish spray can? I never tried that stuff.

Yes it was VHT. Just followed the instructions (mostly--I did use a heat gun, which wasn't on the can, but was in an instructional video).
