Titling with typo in the Certificate of Authenticity
I am going through the titling process and my Certificate of Authenticity has my name spelled wrong by one letter. DMV is giving me a hassle about it. Anybody else go through this issue?
Also my COA does not state the year that the car is replicating, only the year the kit was made, any problems there that I should expect?

Yes, I had to change my name. I was actually born "patrickf" but thanks to Peter's fat fingers I had to change it to "patrickt" in order to register the car -- but I've grown used to it now.

There is only supposed to be one MSO (COA) in existence, so if he makes another you'll probably have to send the old one back.

I am at the bottom of Peter's list, I have been reminding him, but no action yet.
What about the second part of my question? Does you guys's have a vintage date on your COA?

We try to keep things honest. It's doubtful that we'd put in a date that wasn't our actual delivery time.
Each state is different. When issuing a title, some use that date, some use the current date, some use the year that the car is "copying", and the situation seems to change daily.

Arkansas allowed the year I was trying to replicate. But I doubt some States would be as accommodating as they were.

Indiana also allowed the title to reflect the year my ERA replicates.

California's process uses the year replicated, but does not expect to find it on the MSO.
Instead, they assign a referee (frequently from the auto tech faculty at the local JC) who adjudicates the year replicated ("body year"), and uses that to issue the required emissions exemption. With the exception of PCV (always required), emissions equipment that was not required in California in the body year is not required in the replica.
Once the emissions exemption is issued, however, the body year is not used to issue the title. Instead the final DMV record contains:
MAKE: SPCNS (abbreviation for SPecially CoNStructed vehicle)
YR MODEL: 0000 (derp)
YR 1ST SOLD: <year the car is completed and the title is issued>
Since this process is restricted to 500 vehicles per year statewide, the familiarity of DMV personnel with the details is limited and there is considerable variance (read: mistakes) in how it is implemented.

I just wanted to report that I received a new COA that Peter issued with corrections and the year that the car is replicating (issue date stayed the same). Bob if you see this, thank Peter. ERA is the best!
