Default Tauras fan wired correctly???

My Tauras Fan is wired directly thur a on/off switch (and fused)without a thermostat control and works great! Start the car, flip the switch on and it works....
Thinking of adding a two way switch so I can use the high speed. Is there any danger in wiring it this way? It has worked this way for the past 18 months....

I have a Tauras fan in mine as well but with the thermostat control. Be aware that the high speed pulls a lot of amps at start and over 30 amps continuous. I ended up rewiring it last year just using the lower speed after I found the 40 amp relay was melting. Still seems to cool my engine just fine. Cheers.

As TT said, these fans draw alot of amps, particularly the high speed mode.
I used the Hollister Road relay kit which has some pretty beefy relays and wiring (10 ga to the relays and 12 ga to the fan).

I have my low speed on the thermo and also connected to a two way toggle where I can put either the low or high speed manually. As long as you wire the switch into pole 86 of the relay, you won't need to worry about too much draw on your switch.
For me, I found that between the shroud that came with the fan and the cfms it pulls on low speed, I never have to use the high speed.

The thremotsatic fan switch and/or manual overide should always control the relay which is hot wired to the fan or ocassionally, high amprege lighting. To run the operating current through a switch without a relay is asking for trouble. Melted wires being the least. Use 10 gauge wire for wires carrying current to the fan, and 12 for wires controlling the relays. Crimp, solder and heat shrink all terminals. If in doubt use the larger wire.

Some good advice there Rick.
