Default Trapped air in radiator. Lisle Spill-Free Coolant Funnels 24680.

I was watching a video about the Lisle Spill-Free Coolant Funnels 24680.

With my Cobra I don't have the FE type of overflow, so having the radiator below the top of the engine I get trapped bubbles. The video says to squeeze the radiator hose, but mine is the Coolflex type, which can not be squeezed. Why ? What can be done ?

I had similar problems with mine, so installed an inline filler in the highest spot in the upper hose. Yes, I now have two radiator caps, but only really use the upper one.

A system that pulls a vacuum should help with your issue. Robinair makes a decent one that pulls the coolant through the entire cooling system while removing the remaining trapped air.
There are videos of this system in use on Google demonstrating it use.

I did the same as cycleguy55 on my first car and never had any problem with trapping ait.

Hi,
Drill a hole in the top of rad and tap it for a drain cock, pointing straight up. Open the valve and let the trapped air out.

I like the Robinair system. High in price though. $90...eek !

With my Coolflex hose's, I can't use any tool that squeeze's the radiator hose, because of vacuum.

A company has a nice looking thermostat housing with a bleeder valve that has a o-ring and can rotate 360°. But, it's like $90 !

I made my aluminum sand casted thermostat housing years ago, so I could drill & tap a hole and use it as a bleed valve.

Maybe use some type of nice looking bolt ?
Any ideas ?

Actually just looked on ebay and found a Trans Dapt with a bleeder, for $32.99 shipped.

Stupid question. Doesn't the intake need to be machined so the O-Ring has a groove to sit in, thus to seal ?

But, the radiator is lower than the intake.

The best answer is to run a header tank, easy to fill and check during any maintenance.

The reason why so many new cars run header tanks.

You need to install a pressurized coolant overflow tank above the level of the radiator. The overflow tank should have a 16 psi radiator cap.The cap at the top of your radiator must be drilled to allow unrestricted flow to the overflow tank. Your radiator discharge line should be routed to the bottom of the overflow tank. Once you set it up, your overflow tank will be the high point of the coolant system.

Radiator cap drilled to allow unrestricted flow in both directions.

Black hose delivers radiator expansion/contraction to/from the overflow tank. The overflow tank is mounted on the firewall, about 6" higher than the radiator. Blue hose comes from the water pump discharge port.

When the overflow tank cap lifts, water is directed to a coolant reservoir.
