NOS Blue Thunder MR heads
I am looking for some Blue Thunder Medium Riser heads for FE Technically They are for 428 cobra Jet they will have 428 M/R stamped on them. I know they are not made any more. A friend of mine just found a pair and they are very nice. Any one here know of a set sitting on a shelf somewhere? Let me know please, or some one to contact?

Try "Sidewinder" or maybe "Tunnel Wedge."
I just remembered that's Jay B.'s site and he wrote the definitive primer on intake manifolds. That's probably why the question is what it is.

The correct answer is Tunnel Wedge. And, for whatever it's worth, BBM didn't copy the Blue Thunder heads. They're a proprietary design all their own. My 520" BBM headed FE makes 744 HP with just a little massage work in the bowl area by Blair Patrick. No port work at all.

After driving a 700HP Cobra through downtown traffic I would think you'd need a little massage work.

Thank you the tunnel wedge question worked. I personally am not into who has more horse power than who... I think that 740 HP is excessive for a street car to begin with. But that being said the motor you have is very nice.
I already have a nice set of Shelby heads that will make every bit of 650 HP and 650 torque, however my builder prefers the Blue thunder over the BBM. The BBM is a very nice product and would be my second choice.

Perhaps it is, but my engine has a special feature. If I only push the gas pedal half way down, it automatically drops it's output down to only 370 HP or so - perfect for those days where I might be thinking that 740 HP is excessive. Then, on days where I want it all, I just press the gas pedal down further, and presto, I have 744 HP.

Who is paying who for what?
The builder should advise for sure, but wanting you to buy parts that you already have seems wrong to me.
When the builder thinks he is in charge of spending my money, I think I would look else where.
I would feel different if you had junk heads, but you don't. If he cannot make good power from those heads he isn't worth is weight in ..... never mind. I said my piece.

I meant the dedicated fe forum , not on this site.
The sidewinder intake is a single carburetor dual plane intake designed such that the intake runners are about equal length, and the carburetor sits a little off center, towards the drivers side , and is named sidewinder because of its appearance.
I think the best fe wedge heads for making power are the high risers. Ford copied the design from mopar max wedge heads.

FWIW, I had terrible problems with a Blue Thunder FE intake manifold. The distributor hole was bored 1/4" off center. I bought it from "River Racer", a well known Blue Thunder dealer. I called Blue Thunder and talked to the owner, George, I believe. He hatefully accused me of lying and said it couldn't possibly be a Blue Thunder intake. I ended up getting my machine shop to have it welded up and re-bored it to the correct location. That ended any future chance of me buying a Blue Blunder product.

I was afraid of that, which is why I stopped.
I hope he does well by you and you are happy with the results.
Good Luck
