Default Lykins Motorsports 427 High Riser Build

This one is for a Thunderbolt clone but still cool just the same. Block is a '63 427 center oiler, currently at a 4.240" bore size. Rotating assembly is a Fomoco $ crankshaft, with some Molnar FE rods and some domed Diamond pistons. Compression ratio will be 12:1.

Camshaft is a custom solid flat tappet, which has been ground with extra lobe taper and nitrided. Lifters are Trend tool steel lifters.

Cylinder heads are factory high riser heads that have been fitted with bronze valve guides, SI stainless valves, and have been ported. Intake manifold also has been ported. T&D street rockers for the high riser heads are on top.

Waiting on a few goodies and then will be able to finish assembly and dyno. Expecting about 600 hp out of it.

How many buns do you have in the oven? Do you do these at the same time or focus on one start to finish? How long do they take?

All the ones I've posted, except for the 427 HR have already left here. I was just showing off some finished product.

I have about 9 to do right at this time. But it changes dynamically because sometimes I have to wait on something to be made, something's on backorder, etc., and I switch from one to the other. I also have several builds that will be waiting about 8-12 months on the car to be finished, so I just kinda "piddle around" on those so that the engine is not sitting waiting on the car. It's not good for engines to sit.

The completion time varies per engine. The road race engine that I posted the other day had a ton of labor in it. More vanilla builds go quicker.

The paint job looks really good. It is obvious you really sweat the details.
