Looking for a cheap alternative-
Long time, no post- hope you are all doing well. I am in the middle of creating a Mallory conversion that is technically no longer available. I have a male lug distributor cap, o have a Pertronix unit and the very hard to find 305 rotor. My problem is the two, small right angle brackets that hold the new style cap to the body of the distributor. The Mallory 29316 is two screws and two right angle brackets and they want a lot of money for something that should be five bucks, shipped. Has anyone else found a better solution for this dilemma? Or did you just pay the money and ***** about it?

Best advice is not to adapt discontinued products that are no longer available and have high priced "fixes" for those who insist on using them. The high priced fix should help you to noodle through the availability fog to a modern, seviceable alternative. If you think the pain is high this time, get ready for the next hurrah — it will be even more impressive, more frustrating and more expensive.

Too late, I already have all the pieces, except for the stupid bracket. I can probably make something that will due, but I just can't believe that the only thing this piece of metal is made for is this application-https://www.ebay.com/itm/114927663447?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid =p2060353.m1438.l2649

That's not Mallory, that's some jerk on eBay setting his price. If Mallory does not offer it make it yourself using some angled material, a drill press and a lathe.

That is the Mallory part- the price varies, as does the shipping. I bought some very similar right angle "L" brackets, and have a couple that drilled came out close. My focus is on the cost of the bracket. I don't believe that this is the only application. But, thanks for the input.

Summit Racing has them for $2 cheaper @ $18.71 but charge $9.99 shipping which will bankrupt you for sure.

Or you can fab couple out of .125" X 3/4 alum angle.
https://www.homedepot.com/p/Everbilt...1717/204273996
radius on the belt sander, drill, tap and Walla! you saved $7.73 and have brackets that are much less likely to cause dissimilar metal corrosion against your distributor housing than zinc plated steel.

The part may well be Mallory. That is not the issue. The pricing road rash you are experiencing is caused by the eBay seller. He is setting his selling price, not Mallory.
