Better suspension - come on track guys!
Help,
I posted on one of my old posts and did not get anything. I have ordered by Wilwood brake kit for the track. Now it is time to get rid of those horrible single dampening Alden coilovers. I called KW ( what comes on Vipers) and they don't have anything unless I have them custom build since they know nothing about our cars. Surely someone here is running some Koni's, Penske's or something fully adjustable. I know they are going to be a lot more expensive than even the double dampening Aldens, but as you track guys knows the suspension set up is critical for a track set up (Road Race).
Brad, Fred, Madmiles - where you at?

Call Gordon Levy. He has some really nice adjustable Koni's that might fit your car.

Ball park numbers and parts
rblong I am not familier with the LS suspension. If you have coil over shocks, Get a set of QA1 double adjustables with a coils spring that is 400+ pounds. I don't know what motor, weight of car, or your weight is. Some of the real racing pros with BBF motors are running 600 pound front springs with iron motors. This should give you a good place to start. Rick L.

Dynamic dampers \ Hypercoils
The guy that does Sebastian Bourdais' suspension at Newman-Haas setup a set of Dynamic 4-ways with piston bleeds for mine. He came over and took measurements of the suspension along with corner weights and came up with a damper\spring package based on their suspension software. I was a whole second faster compared to my non-adjustable Proshocks.

Thanks all - been outta town. I will check into or call the names mentioned.
I run a BBF all aluminum except block, coil overs (Alden single adjustable), 9 inch ford rear, right at 2600 lbs wet but without my butt in it (270lbs). I have spring rates written down for the existing but not here at this time.
Scott - yea, that is what I would expect from someone - take corner weights, travel needed on coilovers and dial something in.
Now that I am back I will do some digging.

I had someone tell me to call these guys about my suspension for the Cobra. I have not ordered the coilovers from them yet because I am waiting on the big brake kit and need to know the weights, but from my initial conversations they are more than helpful. I talked to a gentlemen with a very heavy accent (Bruce) and he walked me through what I need to supply to them for them to load my needs into a suspension program to fine tune the Koni shocks they will build for me (based off the 8212 dual adjustable). They need corner weights, motion ratio, unsprung corner weights, shock offset, extended length and colapsed length. He also explained in detail the easiest way to achieve all my readings accurately and quickly. My corner scales I bought just paid for themselves!
They carry most the popular brands including Moton, Koni, Penske etc. I am not expert and cannot vouch for their actual delivery of the product yet, but it was sure nice to talk to a vendor that understood how to talk shop with a do it yourselfer
Thanks to everyone that atleast started me in the correct direction.

That set up of your's sounds pretty reasonable and economical, what did that set you back, were the shocks more than a couple hundred dollars a piece ?

Shocks, springs etc. will run about $2500. If you have ever priced suspension components this is about middle of the road for a track set up.
