I guess this is a good place to post this one.

Prototype Pontiac Firebirds found in Connecticut garage | Daily Mail Online

Funny living in Connecticut how things get discovered in your backyard. Well not near me but many people knew about these vehiles and I love how a gas monkey discovered them. rofl Almost as funny as one of the guys having the record for a cross country run. Now that one I fell out of my chair when I heard that one.

Reality shows.....not real at all.

A "60 day" restoration! Yeah, I want to see THOSE cars in two or three years! I saw the Ferrari F40 they "repaired" (it was a salvage car) at Barrett Jackson and after having saw the show with the butcher job they did on it plus the "customizing" they did, I was NOT impressed. The paint was poor and the rear subframe looked like a drunken Earl Scheib with sunglasses on did the work.

One of the car magazines called it out as the buyer paid WAY too much for the quality of the car and with a salvage title to boot!

It may be TV but it ain't real!!!!!
TN Shelby Cobra likes this.

Default A little truth

Actually Richard and Dennis did beat the Cannonball Run record driving a Ferrari in 2008. Pete Brock had held the previous record in a Dodge Challenger.

I had a hand in designing and alteration of the Ferrari and am still associated with Gasmonkey Garage. You are correct in some things. Not everything is completely true

The f40 was purchased by Reggie Jackson but the work described as poorly done was completed by the Ferrari authorized shop in Garland Texas.

The Pontiacs actually were quite well done, but the sales price was not 650,000.
The time frame was accurate which normally isn't.

And you also like the Kartrashians also?

As I said, reality TV ain't real. I don't doubt the Monkeys are nice guys and can do great work, but the great unwashed watch this (and others like it) show and think they can get a car restored in two weeks, flip it for a BIG profit and drink beer all day long. I could only wish, I would be in line for THAT job!

And just because Reggie was the high bidder does not make the car worth the price. That said, anything is only worth what someone will pay for it on a given day and that day the F40 was worth it to Mr. Jackson. God bless him if he has enough money to buy such toys.

I think you mean Brock Yates, not Pet Brock.

And I would not admit in public you did the "redesign" of the F40.........Ferrari has a "contract" out on you!

Default Corrected

You are correct, that is my old timers disease. However, you misunderstood the Ferrari reference. I did not do the f40 but the Ferrari that they drove cross country. The F40 was recent field my Ferrari prior to the auction.

Dennis still owns the Maranello and it has been seen on several episodes.

It's hard to get into the negative because they are car guys. I think I heard "current record holder", but in actuality they never had a record at all. Long story and I've only briefly explained it in the past. I wouldn't want someone to realize what they thought was real was in fact an untruth. I don't think anyone other than two men have ever broken the 30 hour barrier many years ago.

I did watch the rebuild of the F40 and was going to make note it had to be done by authorized Ferrari repair and specs. Was it really that bad a job? I mean the guy did bust the front windshield.

The Firebirds were from up state Connecticut and not to sure about that 60 day window. Sort of tired watching these shows and the car has to be done in a few days....how does this work hold up in the long run?

Now this is a barn find!!!! Passed down in the family and still resting in the same place over 50 years. International Harvester Jungle Yacht from the original Commander that owned it and took it to darkest Africa found in northern Vermont before I was born.

Default Yep

No reality in reality tv. Just entertainment. You would be surprised at what they did sell for.
