grill for street beast cobra

want to install grill on street beast cobra, any suggestions on how to do this

289 Street cars had grills. Maybe, copy that design and bolt it in yours.

I doubt you will find a 427 grill off the shelf.

This is a photo from the ERA web page. I would guess they run a few screws thru the outer edge of the grille right into the fiberglass. I don't have one of these.

Jack, hoping that you are aware that "289" openings are considerably different from "427" openings. At least if the replicas are faithful reproductions.

yes, was aware of that, planned on building my own grill to fit, looking for advice on how attach without screwing or bolting through fiber glass , thought i would use expanded metal but not sure on best way to attach it .

At on time I used an expanded metal grill on my 427 NAF. It was bent over the lip of the hole and I used a goodly amount of black RTV which held it secure but yet was still removable with gentle pressure. I decided that I preferred the nose open. I do have a Nomex screen covering the radiator to help guard against punctures. I got the screen from Speedway Parts but it may now be available elsewhere. I attached it with Velcro strips so I can remover it for occasional cleaning.

After reading the threads and suggestions that were devoted to what everyone is using to protect their radiators, I went with the Nomex option. I have to say it was a breeze to work with and install. Cuts easily with a razor knife and is flexible. Radiator fan install kit adds to the ease of the installation. I painted it flat silver using high heat paint. No noticeable change in operating temperature. Available on Amazon.

If your opening is like many Cobras, there is a lip on the fiberglass around the opening. I would use something like this in a smaller version and attach the expanded metal to this clamp. Then you can tighten the clamp on the fiberglass lip. It would be a bit of a pain initially, but after you got he clamps in location, you could bolt in the expanded metal.

I was close to doing something very similar. The roads in Colorado get sanded (or as the guys on Top Gear said "grit"). After I put in a new radiator because of a leak I was going to try to keep the gravel dings down. I used picks to straighten them so was going to do something then sold it...
