Default New in the area.

Hey guys, just wanted to introduce myself. My name is Mark, I live in Eliot, Maine and I just bought a 1986 CCX well.... yesterday. It's a little bit of a project that I can still drive and enjoy at the same time (ok, after I get the turn signals and brake lights working properly lol.)

I've alway been into cars, my dad is a car guy, I'm a car guy, but in my early 20s I got into motorcycles because A) I didn't have a garage when I moved out of my parents' and B) they were cheap. Now I'm 30 and have had a change of heart when it comes to the risks involved with bikes and I've started to unload the ones I have and got the Cobra.

I was hoping to meet some cool folks around here that were into the same thing and like havin a good time.

Welcome, Mark....we're mostly a bunch of old farts, but we do like our cars :-)

Breakfast at the Windmill in Concord this AM would be a great time to meet the gang, if you can make it.

See you soon....Bill

Welcome Mark
We get together the 2nd Sat of the month for breakfast, usually in Concord NH. You are more than welcome to join us. Seeing that you are from Maine, we won't even ask for your green card. There's too many of you from there already so it won't do any good.

Tom

By the way, watch the other guys at breakfast, they try to stick you with the tab!!!!!!!!

Thanks Bill and Tom. Sorry that I couldn't make it today but I'll definitely keep an eye out for the next time y'all get together. Is this the main site that you guys post your events and meetings on or do you have a club page? Thanks for the heads up about the check too, I'll have to be careful. Spending my Saturday washing dishes would suck.

Welcome Mark, and I hope you get some driving weather soon. The wife and I had ours out today for the first time and it was a blast. Just a short drive to get the mice out of them but enough to bring back all the good cruising feelings. Enjoy and glad you're aboard.

Hey Mark, you got it that's great! Congrats and welcome aboard. Hope to see the car and you in person soon.
John and Bill have made a great list of area events here. 2014 events?
This is usually where the New England guys hang out electronically but we are an active and social bunch so we'll see you somewhere soon. Welcome aboard.

I sure did, and thanks again for the advice! The more I drive it the happier I am that I made the decision to get it. It still has a lot of bugs to iron out but I'm making progress and hope to see y'all around soon.

Mark, I'm in the Berwick's just North of Eliot. Drop me a line, if I can help you get ready for the season. I'm just starting to get my ride ready for the summer season as well. Also.

WELCOME TO THE ADDICTION

Hi Mark,

I was over at Nick's yesterday and he showed me some pics of your car. It looks to me like it was probably originally built as a Roadster model rather than an S/C....bumpers, no roll bar, etc. That might explain the side pipes fitting the way they do. As an alternative to fixing the pipes, you could go back to the undercar exhaust like my SPF 023 and have a beautiful street version....guys don't like them so much, but women love them :-)

Thanks Bill but I think my wife is just gonna have to deal with the side pipes lol! The nice thing about this car is it came with a lot of documentation, so I can see what previous owners have done. The car was originally just built as kind of a mutt for lack of a better word. The original owner built it with a 350 Chevy engine, 4 spd, and some awful bolt on turbine style wheels. Thankfully the only thing that remains is the side pipes. When they swapped engines back over to a Ford I dont think they took the time to fit them correctly. Ill try to post a copy of an ad that the first owner made when he decided to sell the car in '93 so you can see what Im talkin about.

Mark, Whether the Cobra is running or not stop by our open house on May 17th. It's about 1 1/2 hours max from Eliot. Last year we had 8-10 cobras out of a total of 80 cars. Personally I've had my Cobra on the road for 16 years and it now has 102,000 miles on it. I now sell Street Rod accessories but by my definition Cobras are just StreetRods with a sports car body. We'd love to see you.

I will for sure. I already have the date saved in my phone and most importantly reminders.
