That would be nice.

If we cant go to the hospital, we could do some sort of run!

If we cant bring toys, could we donate $$ to the kids department for them?

Ladies and Gents,

I've not forgotten, but wasn't sure of the interest this year. Activity among "members" has been pretty quiet this year as far as I can tell. I have reached out to Amy at SMCS Child Life for her thoughts on the matter. If its a go, I'd be happy to try for either the 18th or 11th. It would also be helpful if other interested parties would chime in. If there are just the 3 of us, I'd feel a little silly.

Thanks, Ron

Just spoke with Amy, and she would appreciate any support we are able to give. That said, the children wouldn't be able to make contact with the group, and Amy doesn't really feel like she can ask security to reserve spaces for us. Essentially, it would be best if we didn't plan on visiting the hospital as a group.

That leaves us with a few options. We obviously can meet as a group no matter what, and if everyone wants to meet at our ususal location (or elsewhere), I can try to arrange that.

As far as supporting the Child Life program at SMCS, we can mail items (I'll provide the address and a list of need items), and/or I can gather up whatever members want to bring, and drop them all off at one time.

Or, we can support another organization entirely.

Or, we can tag along with another club, and support whomever they're supporting (Shriners?).

I have no problem keeping it low key, and just getting together and catching up with everyone. It's been a really busy year for me, and just stopping to catch my breath sounds pretty good.

Let me know what you think.

Ron

Unless someone comes up with another plan/event, let's plan on meeting for breakfast "in the usual place".

Ok,

So interest seems to be pretty tepid this year. Still, I'd be more than happy to get together with anyone who would llke to meet for breakfast. It sounds like our usual meeting place (Perkos) would be reasonable. Since we don't have to be anywhere afterwords, do we still want to meet at 8 am, or maybe push it back a little? I can ask Perko's if they can reserve the side lot for us again, but if it's only 4 or 5 of us, they may not be too interested. So we'll have to play that one by ear.

Below, I've copied the post from last year for those of you who'd like to donate to the Child Life Program at SMCS. The address is included if you'd like ship items. Otherwise, bring them to breakfast, and I can arrange delivery.

The Child Life Program at Sutter Children’s Center, Sacramento strives to minimize the anxiety and stress associated with healthcare experiences, promote optimum development and normalization for infants, children, adolescents and their families in healthcare settings. As an integral member of the health care team, Child Life staff provides opportunities for gaining a sense of mastery, play, learning, self-expression, peer interaction and maintenance of the child’s relationship with the family.
For our program to operate successfully, we have a wide range of equipment and activities that are offered to children daily. To keep up with current trends and popularity, we often need to rotate items and purchase new ones. The following is a current list of new items we wish to have, both for program supplies and for gifts to children.

We also have two public Amazon lists – Sutter Children’s Center Child Life Wish List, and NICU Child Life Wish List.

****DUE TO COVID-19 RESTRICTIONS, if at all possible, we ask that you please order items and have them shipped directly to us. Please call or email with any questions, and to let us know that a donation is on its way. Thank you so much.

Lets just make it Perko's at 8 a.m.

Hope everyone's doing well, and maybe I'll see a few of you at breakfast. Seeing as it looks to be a very small group this year, I'm not going to ask Perkos to reserve spots for us. Make it if you can. If it looks like rain, we can reschedule.

Ron

Last update. I've confirmed that Perko's is open. There is a mask requirement to enter, but not while you're eating (I'm biting my tongue reguarding the stupidity of it all).

I'll be there at 8. Hope to see someone, anyone. It will be cold, so feel free to arrive in your daily driver. I don't think anyone should stay home because they don't feel like freezing half to death.

Happy Holidays to all,

Ron

That's the way it is in Nevada. We go to a place for breakfast two or three times a week. We wear our masks the 25' from the door to the table. Sit down and take them off. I don't bother on the way out. What are they going to do, make me leave?

It's absurd.

Thank you Ron for getting a few of us together to catch up. Patrick and Lisa, Murray and Jennifer rounded out the 5 of us for breakfast at Perkos'. Hopefully more Cobra folks are able to make it next year.
