Default Goodyear Blue Dot - how about this color?

Anyone want to comment on this color for the Goodyear Blue Dot?

Too light?
Too blue?

Cheers
Greg

I think it's a little too light (slightly) but it could just be my monitor.

Seens a little light to me too.

I'll add 10% more blue in increments and then as a comparison add 10% more green in increments and see what it looks like.

I'd say bottom right maybe a bit lighter and a tad more green.

I think the bottom left looks about right.
Maybe I missed it but curious why you don't buy a set of Goodyear Blue Dots? Size maybe?
They are pricey though.

Hi Larry. I haven't found Goodyear Blue Dots in the Cobra size (8.20x15) yet. So far only Mustang sizes available. And yeah, pricey!

Greg...more green tint needed in that last set.

It is fun to add that the original Blue Dots i ran on in the 60's were the worst tires I ever owned...

...first things to go into the dumpster.

Default Blue Dot

I actually had a set of blue dots back in the 60s and the DARK BLUE is absolutely the best color.

I posted a pic of an original set from a 65 350 on the other thread about blue dots. They look more green in the direct sunlight.

I think the one in the 3 o'clock position looks right. Keep in mind there are differences in monitors, so true color may be an issue as compared to real life.

OK. You guys are just screwing with my head. Too blue. Too green. You're talking to a guy whose wife says is colorblind.

Seriously, the hard part is going to be translating the computer screen color to a paint color.

Now if we could just find someone with a relatively new reproduction Blue Dot tire and have them take it to a paint store that has a color chromatograph, we could get a color code.

I'm also going to contact Kelsy tires to see who manufactures their Blue Dot tires to see if they'll tell us the color.

Cheers
Greg

I've contated John Kelsey at Kelsey Tire to see if he can help get a color code. Waiting to hear back.

Cheers

A moment ago one of mj duell's pics showed up in the header: 1964 Ford Paint Colors:

I'm liking the "Skylight Blue" for the Blue Dot color.

Cheers

Also found this felt tip pen in an old box of art supplies:

Unfortunately, being a poor photographer, the camera flash has washed out some of the green.

At least it's something I can take to the auto paint store to get a mix/color mumber.

Cheers

John Kelsey at Kelsey Tire made an admirable effort to get the color code from the factory. But the tire factory's legal department stepped in and cited propriety copyright issues and wouldn't tell us the color code.

Off to the paint store tommorrow.

Cheers
