Default 1964 Race Season

What color white did they use on the 1964 race season on the FIA Cobras.

The myth is Wimbledon white but in reality it is just plain gloss white.

Jeff

I'll check on that, I wouldn't put it past SAI . It was just a race car back then...

Yes, this always makes me smile. I wander around the Goodwood Revival paddock and these things are all concours - I mean, really immaculate. Perfect door shut lines, flawless paint researched to the nth degree.
I remember wandering around the Brands Hatch and Silverstone paddocks in the late sixties, when they weren't even bothered if you sat in the cars, and these things were rough. I mean, rough! Several shades of the same colour on one car, often whole wings (sorry, fenders) brush-painted following a cheap repair. Given how broke most of the privateers were (and, indeed, most of the teams), paint and smooth bodywork came a very long way down the list of priorities.
Oh, I wish someone would do a proper racing car replica, just like they really were!

I remember reading somewhere that back in the day, they actually used a phone book for a dolly and a hammer to beat the fenders out for tire clearance at the track. Now that's not something you see these days!
