Hood prop
Anybody know if the hood prop rod should have a bend in it?
It sits very close to the Autolite alternator and restricts adjustment unless I put a slight bend in it.

Yes, up near the pivot mount by the firewall. I have a photo I can post later this evening when I get to my computer.

Note the bend on the rod.

Thanks for the pictures Larry, some great detail in there. Yes, I do have the bend in the vertical plane to drop the rod lower down. My concern was with the horizontal plane - after the bend shown in your pictures, my prop rod is dead straight in all planes. This means that where it passes the alternator it sits away from the aluminium panelling of the inner wing and therefore restricts sideways movement of the alternator, limiting adjustment. Should there be a lateral bend anywhere, most likely level with the alternator?

I know 2367 also has a bend in the rod about or a little before it meets the aluminum splash panel. Unfortunately, I don't have a photo that shows that.
It would allow the rod to pass by the alternator I think.

Thanks Larry. It would make sense, but I don't want to go bending things until I'm sure. Better a slight bend than clouting the alternator!
Edit - yes, just managed to find some pictures from the old CSXinfo site, and a number of cars are shown with the prop up. There is indeed a bend just level with where the prop would sit next to the alternator in the 'down' position, so a bend it is.

Great pictures Larry, my prop is laying on WildHorse EAST track somewhere. Easier to replace the prop versus fixing my sidepipe at the track. BTW, I blew out my passenger rear tire tracking and now have matching flat bottom pipes. Looks symmetrical now....

Geez Dave, you've left pieces of your car on some great tracks!
We had a ProAutoSports event last weekend at Inde. You should have come down. Was a big event.

Thanks Larry, that shows it perfectly. And I see it's a curve rather than a bend. Dan has told me the rod is tubular, not solid, so any bending will need to be done 'delicately'!
I guess it's time I posted a 'progress' pic... I'll see what I've got

Larry, I was in Sedona pissing of all the liberals with my loud polluting car! So much for the piece and quiet for hikers and bead threaders.
