Default Dual circuit braking system conversion

Good afternoon fellow cobra enthusiasts,

I want to convert my original car (CSX214X) from a single to a dual circuit braking system.

I still runs its original Girling 0625 unit.

I do not want to cut the frame or chassis but cant find any tandem / dual brake cylinder with external reservoirs…

Thanks a lot in anticipation,

Marius

My intial thoughts would be to replace the pedal box with one made for dual masters. CSXParts.com has the master cylinders, bias bar, clevises, etc but I don't think they sell a box. Mght want to contact them.

Hello Gentlemen,

I know it’s usually done by replacing part of the pedal box with a new one to make space for two single brake master cylinders, but apart from ruining the side view of the cars I do not want to cut anything and leave the chassis completely unmolested.

Is there no solution with a Tandem / double master cylinder? It just needs a small bore, less than 1 inch..

Cheers & happy xmas season,

Marius

What am I not seeing here. Does it not have dual master cylinders? Does this not serve the same purpose as a dual circuit cylinder?

Yes Tommy but his car should have 2 of them. So what is to be gained by changing to the one you linked to?

Hi Marius 289

Could you give us a little history on how long you have owned this Cobra?

The enclosure stayed much like CSX2001-CSX2164 cars. A.C. added an aluminum adapter and all the parts to make two brake circuits for CSX2165-CSX2200 cars.

At CSX2201 a new larger enclosure was added as part of the welded chassis.

CSX2165 was also the first car to get steel differential hangers instead of the cast iron original which had a breakage problem.
