Default Arkansas Registration process

Has anyone had any experience registering a Cobra replica in Arkansas? I'm wondering if there is anything unusual to be prepared for.

I have a Cobra coming in some time soon. I have spoken with my local DMV and as long as you have all your common paper work they say it it no different than any other vehicle registration. We are lucky AR seems to be one of the easier places to register. Now the sales taxes on the other hand is going to suck.

Ok, so what does all of the common paper work consist of?

They said paperwork with MSO/VIN # and all receipts showing total cost of the car. My car is a Backdraft. It may be a little different for a home build. For that you have to show all receipts from the build to get your total price on which taxes will be paid. Arkansas does not do car inspections and you can tell from some of the stuff you see driving around. They will register anything!

Thanks - that was pretty much what I was anticipating but I wanted some reassurance. I'm trying to think who it was that finally got rid of that State inspection scam business - I think it was Huckabee when he was Govenor. Best thing that has happened here from a Gov't perspective in 20 years.

It was a real mystery (yeah-right) as to how my headlights fell out of adjustment each year and I needed to pay a garage to re-align them who usually left them pointing up into the sky and into the woods. Then when I got home I would have to align them against the garage door to be able to see the road again. There was no real check of mechanical condition or anything. It was just a state subsidy to garages to sell windshield wiper blades and headlight alignments. What a scam it was.

I wish California was anywhere nearly that easy. Even on cars that you buy from a Ford, Chevy, or other dealer they can be jerks. I had a CHP officer tell me they were going to impound my 1969 NASCAR cobra because I had the ram air on it and that was a racing option. Fortunately his partner knew something about cars and told that fool that the stuff came on the car as it was a special order car and he would most likely never see another one again. Then years later the DMV sent me a letter telling me to turn in the title to it because I had no insurance and a phony license plate. It has Historical Plates that they issued. I called Sacramento and told them to pull up the records on the cart, and after 6 or 7 transfers I finally got a woman who knew what she was doing. She said the car was insured and had been since 1969 and that the plates were Historical ones and for me to throw that letter away and she would find out who sent it. So anything they can find to grip about they will. If your new Ford came with a painted air cleaner don't have it chromed or they will fail it on smog. And it seems that every DMV goes by a different set of laws.

Yea, I feel sorry for you guys in Cali. It seems like you get hammered on everything. I honestly don't see how people live there myself. Have been there twice and it is a beautiful state but everyone we talked to was trying to find a way to leave!
