Dean Lampe's Superlite Coupe
Dean, Congratulations on the feature article on your beautiful Superlite Coupe in this issue of Kit Car Builder magazine. It's a beautiful car and I'll bet that it's a blast to drive. Have Fun, John
I do know that this is a Cobra Forum. But, Dean is a Cobra guy too.
A side note. Our hobby/passion is shared by a relatively few. We are fortunate to have a quality publication that covers Kit and Specialty cars. If you don't subscribe to Kit Car Builder I would suggest that you do. Jim Youngs and Steve Temple, IMO, do a great job of putting out a quality and informative Magazine. I think that they deserve our support.

Hey John, I saw Your Draggon in the same issue your car looks great too. By the way Dean just sold the SLC last week to a guy in Georgia. I think he will be back in a Cobra pretty soon. Of course there will be ample coverage of that vehicle too in coming issues of "Whatever".
Clois
By the way I SECOND JOHNS COMMENTS about Kit Car Builder.... a good source for a lot of things dealing with our hobby/passion. I just renewed my subscription in December.

I think Dean might like the build process and has Automobile ADD! I do as well.
Hello Clois, The Dragon in the magazine was built almost 10years ago When I was partners at Dragon we sold some kits. A customer built that car from the frame/body kit. I left Dragon over 3 years ago to take care of my health and to take care of my parents. It's been a crazy time and things are just settling down to the point that I can go in the shop and work on some personal projects. Trying to get back to having fun!

Tell Dean if I have to hold this pullrod JBl any longer I will have to start charging storage! Which would make for some interesting track days, Mat, Clois, Dean and myself with JBL's at the same location. Quite the rodeo.

This issue was chocked full of good articles. Everything Dean has touched has been nothing short of awesome. I was bit by the SLC bug at RNG in '08. Dean still had the GT40.

Dean Changes cars like people change their underwear. Saw the SLC at R-n-G last year and it was a screamer. I heard Dean was actually going green and going a hybrid race car version of the Prius.

I wish I had a copy of this magazine you guys keep talking about! A subscription was on my to do list I just never got it done.
It's always about this time of year I get cold and board and start thinking about what to do next. I simply made a comment on a yahoo group that I might sell it and about 2 weeks later, that money was wired to my account and the car had a new owner.
JBL's new coupe is amazing. It is really built well and is very well thought out. Who knows what the spring might bring!
One thing I do know for sure, I have stopped saying "this will be the last one I build"
I want to go back to something vintage in nature to run side by side with my friends. It sounds silly but the SLC was too fast to be competitive with most of the cars on the track. The competitiion is what I realy enjoy. And, of course, building cars!

Good to hear what your up to Dean. I recently picked up a 1958 Devin SS replica body. I am trying to decide how to build it.
1- use the drive train and suspension from one of my Miata's. This would be inexpensive and have very good handling. Weight would be in the 1400lb range.
2- build it old school with a Chevy small block.
3 build it with an lS3, 6 speed, and current aluminum independent suspension.
I think the body shape is very pretty. 92 inch wheel base, 62 inch wide body. I like building. Having fun.
Have fun with your next project. I'll be watching.
Picture of a Devin. Obviously not my car.

I love those Devin cars John, like the one pictured! Awesome!
I figured you'd do a Daytona from Kirkham next Dean. Just feels right!

X2 on what Dean said about the JBL Coupe. The frame alone is a work of art.

Definitely a buyers market out there, shouldn't have too much trouble finding something, or a build if your preference.
