Oil Temperature Gauge 289 FIA
any ideas for a new gauge?
SAI cannot deliver the larger one (ca. 70 mm/0,27 inch) any more, only the small one (ca. 52mm/0,20 inch), but that would look weird..
maybe a SW gauge and using the SAI scale?

I agree with Blas, get it rebuilt. Unfortunately I just sold a whole set of these gauges.
Another plan of attack would be to source original Stewart Warner gauges and replace the CS gauges.

Most of the original FIA cars used SW gauges so why not go that way? It would seem by their appearance that your gauges were originally modelled on the SW gauges anyway

Depends on what scale you need.
140C is 284F, so the second gauge gives more accurate readings at temps lower than 284F.
Can you see how that compares to your current gauge?
Gauge scale selection is all about running a scale about 10% higher than your expected maximum.
It's a bit like why we don't run a 15000 rpm tachometer on a stock bigblock.
Having said that, to keep the gauges the same etc, getting your current gauge repaired is certainly the first and best option.
I love your layout, very functional order of gauges.

Definitely don't use that 2" CS gauge. Shouldn't mix degC with degF gauges, and a 2" gauge just won't go in a 2⅝" hole .
I might be wrong, but surely those 2⅝" CS gauges are rebadged SW 2⅝" gauges?
If it you really don't want to mix CS and SW gauges (even though I think they are the same gauge), consider that 'back in the day', they mixed and matched to suit what was available at the time, and also what suited individual driver's requirements/preferences

Nice looking layout. Certainly hope your fuel pressure gauge has a "remote" on the outside of your fire wall. The possibility of gasoline spewing under the dash, inside the cockpit is a tad unnerving.
Another thought is that you might talk to the Speedhut people in Utah. They build excellent gauges, with lifetime warranties, and can replicate pretty much any face you want.

Zoom in on the gauge photo with the ruler, it is an Auto Meter gauge badged as CS.

You might also find that the internals are the same between gauges of different diameters. Just because a given manufacturer offers gauges with different diameter faces, that doesn’t necessarily mean they designed a whole new set of guts for the larger diameter, they may have reused the same guts as the smaller diameter gauge.

Very true in some cases, but only if the scaling is the same from end to end.

Yes, the swept arc of the needle will likely be the same, not so much the scale, as in 270 deg arc. Smiths chronometric speedos for motorcycles came in 3 inch and 5 inch diameters. The 3 inch went up to 120MPH, while the 5 inch went up to 150MPH, and the same basic mechanism was inside, with different gearing to change the scale.

My CSX has the autometer gauges. I called them when one o my gauges failed. They will repair for you. Call them.
