Tom, thank you very much for posting that interview of the real man. All of the stuff that came after he retired is fluff and it is really great to look at the purity of the road racing environment at the time he got into it for real. His resume is the stuff kids (older kids like some of us who had the Mechanics Illustrated Test Drive of a red cobra on the wall when we were in high school) dream of ... still. He drove for Ferrari .. 19 wins in a row. Then with Aston Martin, Maserrati. Hooked up with Ford before there WAS a Ford Racing...before the "secretary's car" (Mustang) was birthed by his buddy, Lee Iacocca. Thanks for putting a little perspective on the man! He lived in an era that will never be repeated.

Great post, this how we all should remember him. There may have been distractions along the way but I believe everyone here should be greatful for what he as done for our hobby right up to his last days. R.I.P.
