Default Lucas switches

Started to wire the car last week and everything went well till I opened the boxes containing the switches. They are the Lucas style from Finishline. I have 5 switches and 3 have the round chrome outer retainer ring/nut and 2 have just the hex style nut. Is this a common thing or am I missing the round retainers. Looks really bad with mixture. I called Finish line to order a 3 position switch for my heater and told them this and they weren't sure what problem was. I asked if they had any laying around to send them, but when package arrived, just my switch that I ordered and guess what? This switch has hex nut and no round outer retainer ring. What's a fella to do?

To my knowledge, all Lucas switches used on Cobras have a chrome outer bezel.

The 2 and 3 position toggle switches have an outer bezel and lock washer, while the wiper, dimmer (both rotary), and ignition switches have a chrome outer bezel, lock washer and a brass hex nut the inside of the dash that is used to tighten up the switch to prevent its turning in the dash hole.

If for some reason you don't have them, I am sure Paula will rectify the problem.

Good Luck.

Bud

exRodder,

I just checked my switches. I got some from Finishline and some directly from England. I have 2 with the "hex" bezel nut, both are 3 position (one for my turn signals and the other is my light switch. The two position switches all have the round bezel nut. The wiper switch (also a toggle style) has a round bezel nut. I arranged the two with the hex opposite of each other on either side of the tach at top and the others in a row along the bottom. (see the picture). The wiring can be tricky for some of the switches. (lights & wiper) drop me a line if you have questions on how to wire these guys up.

good luck,
Mike 'monster'

Yes, the mixture is normal and correct. (from what I have seen, no historian here!)

Thaks for the input and information. I just wanted to have all the switches with the same round bezel. Sounds like I have to order 3 of the single position switches to get the round bezels to finish the dash. Seems like a high price to pay, but I don't like the look of the mixed round and hex bezels.
