Ford 302/345 STUCK dipstick
New Backdraft Cobra with 100 miles.Tried check oil and dipstick pulls out 6 inches and will go no further.Seems stuck,and don't want to force it.Any suggestions?

sounds like its bent pretty good.....push it down and try to re-orient it and pull on it again.
if its bent too bad you may have to pull the tube or the pan to get it out
that sucks

Try to push down and rotate 45' and pull - if not , pull the tube from the timing cover.
( also try an oscillating motion while pulling )
I am assuming its a front timing cover based DS as opposed to a pan based DS.

It is pan based...I got it out....badly bent at bottom end...straightened it into a gentle curve and fits ok,but have to go slowly.I assume that will give me a accurate enough reading.

dip stick and oil pans
I've ran into several Cobras with miss marked dipstick. Fine out what size oil pan you have, let say 5 qts. Drain you oil and then add 5 qts, check the dipstick to see if the oil comes to the full mark. If not remark dipstick. Most Cobras have remote oil filters. Add what oil you can to the filter and then install it. Crank the motor and let it run for a few minutes. Shut the motor down and give it a couple of minutes to let most of the oil drain back into the pan. Then check the dipstick and add oil till it is to the full mark.
Some oil pan are listed as 5 qts but they include the oil in the filter, some manufactures list with out the filter. I find this to be about a 1/2 to 3/4 qt differences. In a street car not a big thing.

when you put it back in and run it, while its running put your hand on the dipstick handle to see if its getting whacked as the crank turns

I have never found a cobra where the dipstick read correctly. The only way is to completely drain the pan (if it has baffles this can take days) and fill with proper amount of oil. You can remove pan and take measurements. My existing cobra dipstic was off by 1.75 quarts. LOL

Mine was reading low with the correct amount of oil so it was easy enough to remove the tube and cut it off so it reads correctly with the full mark.

When I saw the thread title, it reminded me of when I was a kid, and our dog used to get stuck to the neighbor's dog, and the only way we could get them apart was to throw a bucket of cold water on them.... I guess that wouldn't work here, though.
