stay with dual quad or go with single on 302
My current setup is a dual quad, they need work as the secondaries are disconnected. Would the best route be update the carbs to the new AVS2 Edelbrock carbs or swap everything to a single 4 barrel using this manifold below? This is on a 302, looking for a great balance of drivability and performance. I love the look of dual quads too. All recommendations are welcome.

From a looks standpoint, the dual quads. From a performance standpoint, the single 4 bbl. Personally, I would go with EFI on a single 4 bbl type set-up and you would have the best of drivability and performance.

From a performance standpoint, you appear to have about 900 CFM of carburetors fed by a 500 CFM air cleaner and feeding an engine that needs about 500 CFM. A single 600 CFM carburetor would be much easier to tune for performance across a wide RPM range. EFI is also nice but requires more mods to install.

If you have access to Motor Trend videos, take a look at Engine Masters episode 55. It has some interesting information in a carburetor comparison test.

I like my Quick Fuel it has a lot of adjustability you just have to put the time into it ,to get it right. If you want a cleaner running car go small 600cfm if you want more performance go bigger. Its up to you. That said I have seen some great running 600 cfm carbs with good top end performance. Also I have a 427 and would love to put a 900+ cfm just to see how well I could get it to perform. Right now I have a 750 cfm quickfuel.

Not sure what you mean? only worked on two . One had cut tapered needles and worked great for top end but any little bump would upset the carb and the last one just was dirty from sitting to long.

I have a Holley 650 on a 302 and it runs great. No hesitations or flat spots, idles nicely with well balanced performance. Be sure the ignition system is in good order and the timing is set correctly, then the carb can be tuned. You can make the adjustments yourself, but I had a well respected local shop make the final adjustments and it was money well spent. I am very happy with how the car runs.
It's easy to have more carburetor than the motor can handle, more gas does not always mean more power, many times it's the opposite. A properly setup fuel injection system can get you even more power and drivability, but some folks prefer a well setup old school carb.

Check out AED Performance. I just bought one of their 750 HO Modified pieces, haven't bolted it on yet.

Stay with the dual carbs. "It is better to look good than to feel good" "LOL"
