Tires
Hi All,
My project car, a 2008 built Backdraft Cobra, is nearing completion. The previous owner bought Good Year Eagle F-1's which even though never have rolled, I am going to ditch as they are 10 years old. I'm looking for suggestions as to what to run. The Nitto brand looks pretty good. Car will never see rain so I'm thinking the track type, barely DOT legal, tread will be good. Motor is sb 427R, Rousch with Ingelese FI.
Thanks, in advance, for suggestions.
Pete

I just put Nitto NT05 on mine (not the R - drag race version). The around the block feeling is they are much better than the 8 year old, rock hard ice skates I had on there before.

I'm on my second set of NT-05s. I like them for the street, highway and a little autocross too. No complaints...

Thanks Texasdoc and Tom. I was thinking those NT-05's looked pretty good.

Nitto NT05s look good but, alas, not an option for those of us running 15" wheels.

There are options out there for 15" wheels. The Avon (DOT Radials) Goodyear G-7/G-12's, Dunlop CR65 and the Michelin TB5 series.

Just get a sticky tire made for small light cars.
Regular street tires are hard and will spin on a Cobra.

For those running 15 inch wheels AVONs are awesome. I have them on my GT40 and friend of mine has them on his Kirkham 427 Cobra and he also loves them. I ran Goodyear Billboards and Mickey Thompson Radials in the past and no comparison to the AVONs for ride, handling and traction.

I usually get my sets from SascoSports located at VIR. I think both vendors are quite professional.

avons are great but they are lousy until they get warm and have no traction in even the slightest bit of wetness
i switched to mickey thimpson SR and like them as an all around tire better than the avons.
