Default DOT markings on rectangular taillights?

Do they have them on the SPF cars? Connecticut inspection is getting a little crazy: the new guys have now sense of humor.

No, the SPFs don't have the DOT markings. We supply NYS with the numbers but that is only for the initial paperwork, the DMV does not inspect for them and in the field it seems they could care less.

Thanks for the information. What "numbers" are you referring to?

In the FWIW department...

We found some aftermarket lights that are almost identical in size to the Lucas rectangular ones. Deeper, and without a bezel, but will fit very nicely on the body. Cheap too.

The DOT numbers for my rectangular SPF tail lights is SAE ST69.

As MKIV mentioned, NYS asked for the DOT numbers during the custom registration process, but the DMV field inspectors did not check any of the DOT numbers on the car. They seemed to be mainly concerned with the possibility of "stolen" parts, so be sure to have all your receipts and paperwork for engine and trans serial numbers and origin.

Hope this helps,
Jim
