Default Sold My Superformance

It is with great sorrow I announce the sale of my beloved Superformance. SPF02144 was in the family for 11 years and over 25,000 miles. Nothing but great memories. Old age, decreased reflexes, and excessive traffic all contributed to its departure. Fortunately, the new owner is a gentleman who appreciates the car and loves it as I did. Please keep an eye out for a dark silver with light silver stripes car in the Chicago area. I'm going to continue to "lurk" on Club Cobra just to keep up with the current cobra news. The best to you all.

@Sailfish, sorry to hear of your Cobras departure, from your garage. But you still have the memories, and the new owner can make new one. After all we are just the caretaker, till the next one. We all understand your reasoning, for the sale. Here's wishing you well. Cheers Tom.

I hope he looks here and finds the Windy City Cobra Club. We love to have new members!

Default Wccc

I'm a former WCCC member and you can bet I made him aware of WCCC and also Club Cobra. Both are invaluable, especially to a new owner.

Hello Everyone,
I last posted here in mid-January. At that time I was still in the midst of educating myself on all things Cobra, a quest that began in early August of 2017. The people on this forum contributed a huge amount of information including personal experiences and insights on Cobra Ownership. My quest did not end here and I continued my education for another 4 months by speaking with dealers and Cobra specific business owners in various areas of the country. When I felt I digested a sufficient amount of information to make an educated decision, I began looking for my Cobra. My initial search was more focused on-line including some sites that specialized in Cobras. Finding that special Cobra proved to be more difficult than I anticipated. I had a criteria list of “must haves” and “like-to-have” as well as a 1,2,3 list of preferred to acceptable colors. My financial comfort zone further narrowed my search to the used market and not long afterward I began to feel that I was looking for that proverbial needle in a hay stack. Last April my wife and I went on long planned vacation to coastal South Carolina that continued down into Florida. During one of our Florida stops, I took a side trip inland to meet with a gentleman who was selling his Cobra. I was immediately impressed with the car. The impeccable care it had received through the years was blatantly obvious in both its cosmetic appearance and mechanical maintenances, the latter of which were all backed up by a meticulously detailed book containing the documentation of everything (and I mean EVERYTHING) that was done to the car since he signed the purchase agreements 11 years ago. We spoke for about 90 minutes and the demonstration ride lasted an additional 60 minutes which included both around town and Interstate travel speeds. Our meeting ended with a “thank you” and a handshake and I returned to Illinois with memories of a wonderful Cobra experience. I vacillated and researched for a further 2 months but ultimately it was my wife, who had heard earful after earful of that Cobra, and said “it sounds like you should buy that car”. I did, and I am now the proud owner of 2144, the beautiful dark silver w/ light silver stripes one that Sailfish purchased new 11 years ago. To this day the car cannot be told from new and I couldn’t be happier. Sailfish’s roots are in Illinois and he still has family living just a few hours’ drive from me. I asked that he contact me whenever he plans a trip up north to visit that family. Weather permitting, I told him I will drive out in the Cobra to meet him and I’ll throw him the keys when I get there. I’ll visit with his family while he once again enjoys the car we both have the same love for.
Dan

Interesting post, Dan. Breaking it into paragraphs makes it easier to read and helps organize the message you are trying to communicate.

Hi Dan---

Many thanks for the kind words, but as I said before, I didn't sell the car----it sold itself. I'm just thrilled it's going to a good home! Hope you enjoy it as much as I did. And, down the road, I'd love to have a ride in it again!
