Default Battery

Hi all,
Can someone recommend a high quality battery for a MK3 SF?

Optima red top. Lasts for years.

I agree about Optima reds.

When the car isn't running disconnect the battery (you do have a shutoff switch, right?) and put it on a battery tender.

With a little trimming of the battery sides (where the handle is attached), I'm really happy with the Interstate MTX-24F.

Well.... During my quest to fit the largest possible battery, I learned that not all batteries are the same dimensions, even though they have the same "size number". IE: Not all 24F batteries have the same external dimensions - they are similar, but not the same.

To get the Interstate MTX-24F to fit, not only did I have to trim the sides (hence removing the factory handle), but I had to trim the underside of the battery cover, because this 24F was taller. I used a 1" wide nylon strap wrapped around the bottom and up the sides to work as a handle to lower the battery into the compartment. I left the strap there for the time that I'll have to pull it out.

I needed a longer negative battery cable that I ordered from here: https://www.batterycablesusa.com/

Hope this helps,
Randy...
