Default Superformance top profile

Do any of you have a profile photo of your car with the top on? I bought this car and the previous owner said he spent a lot of $$ changing the top so it would look better???????? Now I know why most cars advertised say " top new in trunk".
Thanks, John

Looking at your photo, it only confirms the reasons why I've never removed my top from its storage bag the entire 3+ years I have owned #747.

I currently have 0995 in Kens custom auto body. I am having all the snaps and door sockets filled. I never put the top on so I figured I might as well stop polishing around the snaps. BTW, doesn,t it say somewhere in the manual that you should not exceed 65 mph with the top on. Hell that's a school zone..........

Your gauge should be there tomorrow John.

Thudmaster, thanks for the deal on the gage. I'll send a check ASAP.
I think the manual says 75mph. Still not adequate. A top might be a good deal if you drive cross country but most never will. The tonneau cover seems like it would be worth while though. Mr Mustang said he got the top on his in a couple minutes. It took me an hour and a couple minutes.

DU...if the guy you bought your car from spent lots of dollars on that top mod on your car then he got screwed and an ugly top. The Superformance stock top isn't all that bad looking, better than some out there...but the first few times it is/can be a pain to put up....after that it gets much easier 'cuz you learn the sequence...Best done on a warm sunny day the first few times and not when you are caught in a downpour

I have some pictures on a disc of my old SPF with the top up...I'll see if I can find the pics.

Seems very few like the Cobra with the top up around here but to me it isn't all that bad looking...heck of a lot better than getting poured on when an hour from home or baking under a blistering sun.

Besides you don't ever really drive over 75 for hours on end do you

I put my top on ONCE about 8,000 miles ago ... in the garage. It looked OK. Went back in those big bags and since then has resided in my cellar!

Anyone that can put an SPF top on in a few minutes must be on "speed". It took me about 45 minutes.

They are ugly, but yours does look like its been modified. The older tops make the car look like a muster mobile. Here is (not quite a profile) a picture of my top on just before a track day the previous owner was at, hence the hoosier's and light weight wheels etc. You might not notice the difference, but it looks a lot higher at the back. I can get mine on in about 15 minutes, and it came off even faster once I saw what it looked like.

Default Top and Side Curtain Fitting

If any of the Superformance owners are willing to help, I've got a few questions concerning the fit. As these were done in a factory... you'd think they may have this fully figured out.

A couple of photos would do it. I can describe the detail I'm needing. I have the complete top and side curtains from one of the SP cars... in case someone wants it back.

Thanks,
Roger

The original soft tops didn't look great, but were a lot better than any of the SPF examples pictured. There's a shot in my gallery of CSX3121 with the top on taken at the drags in 1975, and it did stay put until my last run when the rear snaps detached at around 120 mph.

Here is a picture of John T's (aka Driver) former ride. He worked hard to achieve a cleaner look - and did it! I've only used my top a few times, but when my DMV appointment for an assigned VIN arrived in a January snow storm, we buttoned up, fired up the heater and grinned all the way.
