Default Smiths Mechanical Coolant Temp Gauge

Recently worked through some overheating issues (electric fan switch was disabled). I now have an issue with the coolant temp gauge (Smiths mechanical unit) showing NO temp reading. Sensor in expansion tank previously worked fine up until overheating issues. After system has been bled of all air, still no temp reading. Any suggestions and thanks in advance.

It's likely that the gauge is kaput. A defining test would be to immersing the gauge bulb in boiling water. It's time to replace, or it might be able to be repaired by Nisonger. Probably not worth the effort though.

Nisonger is no longer in the repair business after a flood in their shop. They still sell new units.

One has to ask, did they know the temperature of the water?
