Need crew help at COTA November 2-5
Greetings from afar,
I have received an invitation to race my Superformance 289 FIA at COTA for the Sportscar Vintage Racing Association's (SVRA) national championship. I am racing in a mixed group of vintage Mustangs, Corvettes, XKE's, Camaro's and a 427 Comp cobra.
I normally race in the north east. Attached is a link to a video of my car at the US Vintage Grand Prix at Watkins Glen. My crew is local and will not be able to travel with me for this race. Therefore, it was suggested to me by a member from Texas to post this in this forum. I am checking to see if there are members local to Austin that might be interested in lending a hand as crew for me. I would cover the cost of your admission to the 3 day event, provide lunch and refreshments in exchange for your mechanical assistance with repairs if needed, help getting me buckled in to the car, turning on the Gopro and fueling the car.
I have done it all by myself sometimes, and while possible, it is a pain. Especially when an extra set of hands is required.
I am checking to see if anyone is interested before I pull the trigger and pay for registration. Thanks.

Austin-area Cobra owners are plentiful, and a few live near the track. So you've posted in the right place.
CVAR is the Texas vintage racing club that is also sharing the event with SVRA. If you would like to reach out to them, I can provide you with the person's name (Herb Hilton) who will send out an email blast.

Prof,
Thanks! I am getting psyched for the race, still trying to line up someone to share the 25 hour drive there with me. Nice to see that other cobras might be there as well. Of course I would expect people to bring their cobras to the track so that I cold see them.
Sure, give me Herb Hilton's contact information.
Jim

Jim,
Steve Seitz here. I had the #10 white Mustang at Watkins Glen. We were the ones trying to help with your transmission linkage problem. Both Jeff & Jeff (turquoise Mustang and green Mustang) and I have 2 garages rented with 1 remaining space available.
You're more than welcome to join us. It's about $500 each car with a TON of experience and help.

Greetings to everyone,
I appreciate all of the offers for help at COTA. Unfortunately it does not look like it will work for me this year. My mother's health has taken a turn for the worse and I need to stay closer to home just in case. My wife promises that she will travel with me next year to COTA and I look forward to seeing you guys there. I should have a couple of crew spots open for next year for people who have offered to help.
I will let you know if things change, but I am not planning on it at this time.
Leaving in a couple of hours for a race weekend at Watkins Glen with the Vintage Race Group (VRG). Going to slowly push it a little more than the last time out and see how it goes.
Jim

Steve,
Great to hear from you and I had a lot of fun racing, talking and working with you and Jeff & Jeff. Looking forward to the next time that we are on the track together. Will make certain to register before you do next time so that you have to be 110 and I can keep my 10
Sent you a PM. Will let you know if things change. Looking forward to developing some good trackside friendships as I move up from Group 3 to Group 6.
Jim
