Weber appraisal?
Hi guys, I got a chance to buy this set up, can anyone tell me what they are worth used? I know Inglese is 4800 new, and these are ones from spain.I would be putting them on 428 stroked to 465 from Keith Craft.
Any advice would be great, I love the look of webers under a hood, but am I crazy for wanting them? I don't want to buy a headache.
So is there huge advantages from running this setup, or should I just go with the single 4bbl?

Depending on condition, I would offer up to 75% of New cost if they are in very good condition. Remember that you will need a fuel regulator, linkage, and fuel delivery means to get it running. Make sure when referencing the Inglese pricing that you are comparing apples to apples. The bodies of those carbs look to be painted and the intake appears to be polished. But before getting the cart and horse backwards, give keith kraft a call and tell them what you are thinking of doing. You can probably have the stuff drop-shipped to them and they can set them up (jetting) reasonably well for your application as I believe they should have some familiarity with direct runner induction and should provide you with a dyno'd package at the end of the day. Remember that you will need to spec a cam somewhere in the 110 to 115 degree lobe separation range to reduce/eleminate excessive fuel reversion. There's nothing like a set of webers for WOW factor.

Makes alot of sense Allen thanks for your advice.Pretty much what the guy was telling me about the cam choices. It apparently comes with an extra set of jets too!
Is painted carb's a bad thing? Or something that devalues them?

Hi, George.
No, I wouldn't say that the painted bodies are a detractor. I was just saying that when placing your offer and referencing the Inglese pricing, make sure you recognize that is an up-charge option to the base carb cost, but you likely knew that already. Good luck with the purchase!

if you put webers on top of your engine make sure you have a good crankshaft inside, because well tuned webers can twist your crankshaft to death.

Well, as you all probably know times are hard over here.
The banks want all their money back asap and I just can't scrap enough cash together for the new engine. So it is going to take a while till I can order a new short block.I guess by September I will be more "liquid" and be able to face the expense.
That's the way things are right now.

I'm waiting to my ordered 48 IDA webers from Jim Inglese but I hope my Velasco steel crankshaft, that George (Gessford) mount to my engine, would withstand it.
How are the difference from a 4V carburetor to webers ?
I'm very curious.
Good luck with your engine.

Webers compared to Holleys make your engine response more instant and eager. No fuel problems when taking tight turns and no dying of engine when breaking very hard.
