This was my best buddie's original 289 Cobra (CSX2532). It had a very wild metalflake paint job on it when he bought it (it fades from black on the tops of the fenders to burnt orange and then gold). Because of the unusual paint scheme, some of our friends used to call it the "Rainbow Trout".

This photo was taken at an SOA meet in Pine Mountain, GA, in the early 70's. A group of us from Michigan used to make the trip each year. This particular year, I drove my Pinto SW instead of my GT350 or Pantera. I happened to have a couple fishing poles in the back of the Pinto, and my wife and her girlfriend thought it would be funny to take a couple pictures of her "reeling in" the Rainbow Trout.

Funny! What was under the hood requiring the large scoop & raised hood?

It was just a funky scoop that was on the car when my friend bought it. My friend eventually installed a twin-Paxton set-up on the car, but the blowers sat low enough it did not require a special scoop.
